Bullet Journal Migration Struggles and Migration Rules

Over a year ago I started the bullet journal method. I read the Bullet Journal Method book and I had so many "ah huh!" moments. I keep checking the book every time I have questions on the index, future log, monthly log, and daily log. The funny thing was that I tried to make my own version but it didn't work. It makes me exhausted and I keep going back to the real bullet journal method. Simple and concise.

MIGRATION STRUGGLES

Journal

My bullet journal is running out of pages as of September is about to end. It means I need to have a new bullet journal for the last quarter of the year.

I have difficulty deciding on what bullet journal should I use since it is already the last quarter. I feel not right if I buy that 200 pages-journal because I know I won't be able to use all those pages in three months. I think I'm wasting my money if 3/4 of the journal is unused.

Also, choosing which brand of journal becomes a burden. Every time I went to the bookstore, I tried to consider the design cover, paper, pages, presentation, and the price.

I want to follow Ryder Carroll's advice to have a new bullet journal on New Year. I believe him and I want to feel a fresh start to the year with my new bullet journal. I don't like to continue my bullet journal this last quarter up until next year.

New Ideas and Designs

I always check the internet for new ideas, flip through, or designs especially during migration. Every time I always get tempted to try what I've searched.

For example, when I search for the future log, I got to see a lot of designs and it becomes a struggle which one is best for me. I usually follow the new designs I found but it turns out it didn't work for me.

Just lately, I wanted to write all my goals as part of the migration. As I search the internet, there were so many ideas and ways that I have to consider because all these are actually good for each of the people who made it. My difficulty is deciding which way will work for me. Deciding becomes a burden and time-consuming

RESOLUTIONS

The Journal that I Chose

I decided to choose 80 pages of the journal. I like a hardbound journal but this time it doesn't necessarily. I feel 80 pages are just enough for my need because I don't do sketches. I did not make pages for trackers and collections.

I found this in Victoria's Journal. Just perfect for my needs.
  • Softcover
  • 80 pages
  • 80 GSM pages
  • Dotted - not dark dots
And I'm decided to continue using VIctoria's Journal. So, it won't have a dilemma every time I have to migrate.

My Migration Rules

   1. Follow Ryder Carroll and make some adjustments based on what you need - My goal using the bullet journal method is to help my self accomplished my recurring goals and task that has never ever done. I want to change my old method with this.
Sometimes what we need, needs to be defined carefully. Our minds are easily caught up in good things and ideas. We sometimes feel we need it but actually, we are adding up a burden to ourselves.
My experience in experimenting with each process in bullet journal open up new discoveries about what I really want for myself, my weaknesses, and my desire for how to become better.
Reminding myself during the migration of being simple, concise, not putting a burden on myself but evaluating each experience to become better every time, be joyful for every milestone, unburdening of thoughts, reflection, and always being grateful.

    2. No budgeting spread - I was so caught up with the idea of budgeting spread for 3 months. Evaluating myself self it seems that I spend too much time balancing the money each day and the end of the month. It's too tiring for me.
I had an inspiration to use the MONEFY app and NO BUDGETING SPREAD in my bullet journal. My life becomes simple and easy. Also, for the reason of privacy, I got to learn that my financial life should not be shown in my bullet journal.

    3. Use my favorite pen color only - I decided to use light gray and pink for highlighter or calligraphy. I love using BIC pens for my daily log. Black pen for personal tasks and blue pens for my work tasks. The pink color pen to strikethrough a task once done.

    4. Less design - Every migration I would like to remind myself to not be tempted by new designs I see online.

    5. Goals - Migration will help me evaluate and re-examine my goals if it is still worth continuing or how am I achieving certain goals.

Here's how my migration pages look like before the monthly and daily tasks:

Just my name on this first page.

I included this map of Cebu City because I have been living here for a decade but I have not even visited the beautiful places of this island.

Next to the map is the index.

This way is not good for me. I have to change this to a calendar style.

Reflect and Refresh from Amanda Rach Lee is a nice title for this I think. This reflection is helpful to re-examine and re-evaluate my ways and progress.

My goals in different life areas.

I love the vision board. It is easy to understand and motivating.

I hope you find something inspirational in setting up my bullet journal during migration. I'll be sharing my bullet journal migration for this coming new year! I'm excited. Let's see if there are any changes.

Thank you for visiting my blog!
